PETER

President, LIA

Peter started as an individual life agent with New York Life in 1996 out of the Fort Lauderdale office. Early success and industry recognition brought him back to Massachusetts to join his father at Cook & Company to work on special projects and start a life division. After designing policies that are still used in Massachusetts to protect municipalities from the previously uninsured costs of Chapter 111f and 100b, connections with Savings Bank Life Insurance (SBLI) led him to take over their 11 municipal group life accounts.

In 1999, he saw the lack of opportunities for municipal employees to purchase worksite products like Permanent Life, Disability and Cancer Expense and pounced. By 2004, the 11 municipal accounts who were clients had grown to 60.

It was 2004 when Peter Cook, Sr. sold Peter his block of business and LifePlus Insurance Agency, Inc. was born. With that change, Peter brought the enrollment of his client’s insurance products in-house with a fully-staffed, salary-based enrollment company.

LifePlus now boasts over 160 Municipal clients and is the largest writer of Group Life, Dental, Workers’ Compensations and Worksite Products for Massachusetts Municipalities,

The Cook family has always been active in charity work. Peter started the Jordyn Cook Epilepsy Fund, now the Cook Family Charitable Trust, to help educate families and the community about Epilepsy. The CFCF is the sole funding source for Mass General Hospitals’ Growing up with Epilepsy web site.
